Unless you are very late in reading this or the process of aging has affected the functions of my brain that calculate basic math equations, I have now turned 28.
On this day one year ago, I found myself knee-deep in flies and what the insiders refer to as "municipal solid waste" at a landfill in the Dutch side of St Maarten with a night full of tequila, guava berry, beer, and a third of a bottle of Absinthe awaiting my unfortunate soul. I ate at a obnoxious French restaurant; had my first taste of snails; and, was served a watermelon with a lone candle to act as a make-shift cake from my boss.
Then the next month I was fired and my gir

I'm in Miami (at least for a few more days) and recorded and episode of I Am Nerd from the Design District for all the world to see.
Here's where you see it: http://blip.tv/dashboard/episode/3630556
We talk about an art show that we went to.
....that's about it.
.......go watch the damn thing already.
Ever since we started doing the whole video podcast thing, I've been trying to figure out how to improve it--how to make it more professional or more fun. I added in things like the Adult Swim inspired sign/bump gags--which is one of my favorite things to create--but something still bugs me and I couldn't, for whatever reason, figure out how to correct them and make this little podcast with no budget seem much more put together.
Now some of it is just equipment. We work with one camera--a Samsung SC-HMX10c HD camcorder I've had for years--so we can't do that much with interesting shots. We have one work l
So we've been needing a title sequence for a while. I originally tried to film me drawing the IAN logo in pastels and was going to time lapse it...but that didn't work out. Then I decided to do some...

The year of hell is now over as I'm once again EMPLOYED!!! I start Monday at a really cool company called Mojo Interactive as a web designer.
It's been a long road since my last office job and I'm over the moon to be gainfully employed once more--and even better at a place that's so "nerd friendly" that all of their rooms are named after places from Star Wars. I think the CEO even knows Kevin Rose personally which makes me do a little geek squeal.
Dear Internet, I don't understand the need for "norms" to constantly attempt to engage in sports banter with those of us who clearly have no interest in the subject. I'm a Nerd, after all, and that implies that I've spent the better part of my life avoiding the world of Jocksour natural predator. They don't seem to understand that talking to us about sports invokes the exact same reaction as when we attempt to explain the plot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer to them. Our eyes glaze, our attention wanes, and we reply to their wall of inane blather with a unique variation of "uh huh" designed to politely let
I don't actually have time to do the much needed redesign of the I Am Nerd website...but I wanted to do a basic mockup of what it would look like.I boiled everything down to the basics. When I last...

Dear Internet, Call me old fashion, but a video of a guy defecating on his girlfriend in a back alley while a voyeuristic homeless man sings the theme song to Ducktales shouldn't be the most normal thing I've seen on the internet. Alas, we live in the age of 4Chan governed by Rule 34which accurately states that anything that exists has porn dedicated to it. Want to see Scooby doing Daphne in the back of the Mystery Machine while Shaggy asphyxiates himself? It exists. Want to see Chewbacca get his Sarlacc Pit eaten out by Han Solo? It exists. While it's wonderful that you can spend the afternoon painting the town

Just an idea for the new I Am Nerd set.

Concept of the new Sign Guy look. Working on new visual design for the show when it comes back. Thinking of an old CRT kinda look.

I wanted to decorate my bathroom because it's a tiny and boring place. I saw those vinyl wall decals that were cool, but I'm too cheap to spend $50 to get those--so I thought I'd make my own. This i...

Second, and probably the final, set design concept. Just a really quick placement.

Drew this for a digital birthday card thing for a guy at work who likes Cloud. It's not very good, but I was trying to do something quickly...and....I hate Final Fantasy games (with some exceptions)...

This was just thrown together because I wanted to have my old Mr Servo concept art picture as a wallpaper. So, really, this is just an old Mr Servo pic on top of an OLDER Mr Servo wallpaper.I'm tha...

Something quick that I put together this morning for a pot luck lunch we're doing next week.

Something I threw together this morning for our holiday party at work--that I'm kinda organizing....yeah, I'm not sure why I'm charge of these things either.

My first attempt at the holiday card for my work. I really loved the background but the tag didn't come out how I imagined--so it was later replaced.PROGRAMS:*PhotoShop CS3*Illustrator CS3

Episode 0: Serenity in Violence In thirty minutes he fights. Each second passes like hours, each moment savored. The coldness of the metal chair he sits on, the smell of sweat and blood in the air, the sound of the crowd's blood-lust that echoes down the hall--he is acutely aware of everything. "There is a certain zen to this place," he thinks. "These are my people, the ones I fight for, the ones I commit countless sins to protect. I know their minds. I know their fears. I feel the hurt and anger they have for the world at large. It's an anger that only our kind knows. But here, in

There was a time that my DA journal was a place I'd put down my ideas on life as well as design. Back when DA was a young buck, and I was too, I had a different account (:devDeathSun:) and a very active group of friends and strangers. The site changed it's culture and the energy in trying to maintain that sort of participation was more than I was willing to put in so I slowly moved away from using this journal altogether. At this point, DA has become just a place for me to post my occasional artwork and hope that someone takes a look--but that's all it is to me. My long-winded observations on life faded away.

I'm looking for a website designer for semi-regular contract work with the company I work for. I'd prefer that you're in the Central Florida area so you can come in for design meetings with myself and with our clients.
If you're interested, message me and get my attention with a portfolio of some good design work.
Thanks!

So, I got laid off yesterday.
Umm...anyone want to hire a graphic artist? I'll be your friend!
As some may know, I got laid off from my last job. I'm trying to make the most of it, though, by doing some freelance work. I even got myself a new domain (under construction) and everything.
I'd thought I'd just share, for those interested, my online portfolio as well. It's up on Coroflot.
As always, if you know a place that wants to hire a graphic designer/video editor, let me know.
Just got a DSLR for my business/show. Went out today to learn how to use the thing. Never had a DSLR before, but I gave myself a crash course.
Anyway, this is a bike that's just been rusting in the backyard. It isn't mine....my bike got stolen.

It's a spider. Thaaat's about it. Spider. Yup.

I start this year with nothing BUT goals. Last year was full of it's up and downs, but left off with me having to make big decisions about my future. So, let's see what I want to accomplish.
[X] Get a job and/or start my own company.
So, this is the big one. I'm going to make a go at my own company if I can't find a full time gig soon. For those unaware, early December I was laid off. It was difficult since I really did like working there and I'm one of those types that lives to work. I like having that purpose, that meaning. I used to come to work

My first model photoshoot ever! My friend Pam asked me to take some pictures of her, so I did.

More of my first model, Pam. She requested photos of her doing her "no face".

The location I picked for my first photoshoot had a bunch of statues I never really noticed before.

Even more of Pam.

A friend of mine, Tisse Mallon, did me the honor of asking me to help her photograph Prop 8 on Trial (a play about Proposition 8) as well of the wedding of Chad & Jason afterward.
This was the first test of my new 50mm lens as well as my first time being a real photographer for an event, so I was fairly nervous and excited. It was great having Tisse there to back me up and to learn from.
