2009 cometh and without my sage powers to guide me, I can only guess as to what it will bring.  Here's my plans for the new year:


_Knowledge is Power
Learning has a lot to do with this new year. I want to learn to cook. I want to start understanding electronics. I want to learn to program in DirectX and Flash Actioscript.


_Out with the Old
Frequency Zero One is dead. I Am Nerd will follow suit...at least as it is. Part of it is because I'm not sure if I have it in me to podcast anymore...part of it is because I want to focus on new ideas and projects. Either way, I have to cut the fat.  This might mean no Drew

01/19/09--07:43: Circuit City Still a Rip-Off (chan 2072093)




Crystal and myself headed over to Circuit City yesterday to hope to feed on the corpse of the now dead retailer. When CompUSA closed down, for instance, we were able to snag our soon-to-be useful HD camcorder for 60% off and I would have got more if I had that sort of money at the time.

But our hopes for a repeat were dashed.  Anything worth buying was only 10% off and even then it was cheaper on Amazon.com (I checked with my cell phone). Sure, a replacement battery for my camcorder (which I need) went from $70 to $50...but I bought that same battery at Batteries Plus for $40 the other day (waiting for it to come in though). It's

I'm not sure how much I should say, but I wanted to give everyone an update about a huge project I'm starting soon.


I Am Nerd is returning with a completely different format, extremely higher production value, and as a VIDEO podcast. That's right. A VIDEO podcast (in HD!). It's also under new management--sort of--though I'm still heavily involved in the project (I'm just not calling the shots).

We're going to start shooting sometime next month, and we plan to make it a weekly endeavor.  Since this is a larger amount of effort then any of my previous projects, and because people seem to like short-form video podcasts, the sho

So let's have a philosophical conversation--because I'm hoping to hear a good counter argument to my beliefs.  I want to be swayed on this, but I have yet to hear anything outside of the usual "because you should" attitude.

I kind of miss updating my journal more often and we all love to share our opinions, so hence I'm throwing in my two cents with my Nerd God approved review of Watchmen.  Minor (?) spoilers.


First a quick background with me and the comic.  I only got into comics somewhat recently and only read the graphic novel as recent as last year--thus, I don't have the same connection to the source material as everyone else has. This wasn't something I grew up with and though I respect what the Watchmen is, I never held it up on a pedestal.
